Bill Dashley

Charlie Schoening (third from left) and Bill Dashley (right) in Alaska in about1900. One of the other two men is believed to be Bill’s brother, Fred Dashley. The three men went to Alaska during the gold rush to pan gold. They returned with enough money to buy property on Lake Burien. Schoening bought 160 acres on the east and south of Lake Burien, building a hunting lodge on the eastern shore that is still occupied today. Dashley bought a tract of property on the west end of the lake, developed much of the area there and down the hill onto Maplewild, and married the aunt of the late Robert Lynch. Lynch lived on Lake Burien until his death in 1998 at the age of 90. Photo courtesy Robbie Lynch Howell.
