Teens

Let history inspire you! We offer the following projects:

Projects

Intern Program- Curatorial Assistance

The Teen Intern Program is the perfect way for 9th – 12th graders to earn community service hours to fulfill scholarship and school requirements while having a lot of fun! Working in the collections. Archival, digitization projects

Connection to Artifacts- Videos

A Program creating videos featuring teens and our collections. Object-focused teen-made videos.
As part of the program, teens choose an artifact from the museum collections to study and interpret, and share their ideas in a final project in teen-made videos. Have them write their own findings explaining their artifact, their connection to it, and their response project, making sure that the video is just about one minute long for quick, easy consumption.

Teens had one semester (time?) to choose an artifact, study it, and make a creative response to it, in visual art, writing, music, or media of their choice.

Through this program we hope to find more connections and applications to make use of this content beyond teen audiences.

Neighborhood Stories- Videos

A Program creating videos featuring teens and their neighborhood stories.

As part of the program, teens choose a topic from their community to study and interpret, and share their ideas in a final project in teen-made videos. They can use any artistic media to recreate their own artistic renderings of an iconic figure, structure, or event in the community. Have them write their own findings explaining their stories, their connection to it, and their response project, making sure that the video is just about one minute long for quick, easy consumption.

Photo Portfolios

A photography project in which they use photos of key landmarks and events of Highline and create a photography portfolio of the same areas today.

Oral Histories

Interviewing older generations in their teen years. Stories of everyday individuals in an attempt to represent the whole of Highline: All races, neighbohoods, and decades. The stories should include first dates, first love, first jobs, first cars, health, music, artists, sports and other assorted topics of the teen life.
